G+J launches three new men's magazines

Proving that there is always room for innovation and expansion, even during difficult economic times, on October 15th Gruner + Jahr simultaneously launched new three men's magazines with widely differing target groups and editorial concepts:
BEEF! – for men who love to cook.
BUSINESS PUNK – for men who want to have success as well as fun.
GALA MEN – for style-conscious, pleasure-oriented men.

The food and lifestyle-magazine BEEF! "For men with taste"
BEEF! offers the unique recipe of one third each of cooking and recipes, lifestyle and reportages plus ambiguous humour.
"Men cook differently – pleasure-oriented, sensually and not very practically. Our focus is on the event and sociability", as editor in chief Jan Spielhagen describes the male view of the topics eating and enjoying. "BEEF! is on par with the male joy in the superlative. Complicated, expensive, the best, the smallest, the rarest – we specifically looked for those kind of recipes for the magazine, found and described them." In addition to recipes, the magazine's 178 pages introduce the Pope's favourite meal, present the world's best knives as murder implements, and offers a special kind of men's centrefold: A menu planner for an evening with friends on ten pages. The necessary ingredients can be ordered at www.BEEF.de. The magazine appeared in a print run of 100,000 issues and a cover price of 9.80 euros.

BUSINESS PUNK, the new business-lifestyle magazine for men who "Work hard. Play hard."
BUSINESS PUNK is the new business-lifestyle magazine for men who live life under the motto "Work hard. Play hard". The 158-page magazine mainly addresses men aged between 25 and 39 years who want to accomplish something and have success – and who are prepared to work hard to achieve their goals.
Editorial director Nikolaus Roettger: "One spends more time in the office than anywhere else. Colleagues turn into friends, some into rivals. One wants to accomplish one's project, be successful and be happy when it works out. The job is our daily life and it defines our life. On the other hand, one wants to experience something after all the hard work, go clubbing, meet friends. We created BUSINESS PUNK for those people who recognize this kind of life." The magazine is divided into the parts "Work" and "Play" according to its motto; it wants to show economics beyond mere turnover figures and earnings outlooks, with the focus being on the daily job and especially on those people who are able to make something happen in a company – like business punk prototype and Virgin-founder Richard Branson. The print run of BUSINESS PUNK is 100,000 issues; the cover price is 6 euros.

GALA MEN: Pleasure for men's everyday life.
"Our magazine addresses a modern and enlightened generation of men who enjoy life with a natural form of implicitness. For many of them their job and the time spent with their family are both important. They are down-to-earth, but also fashion-conscious and are interested in life's pleasant aspects. We offer them helpful tips for their daily life, such as fashion trends which can be worn by everybody. Additionally the reader can find reportage articles s about a whole range of men's worlds – be it a celebrity like Brad Pitt, or a neighbour from next door," explains editor in chief Peter Lewandowski: "We want to bring some pleasure to a man's world which has been shaken by the financial crises." GALA MEN costs 5 euros; the print run is 120,000 copies.
